Grant Program

At this time we are no longer taking applications for the ARPA Small Business Grant Program.

The information below is provided only for reference.

Up to $10,000 is available to eligible small businesses within the City of Pittsfield that have been negatively impacted by the pandemic. Businesses that are vulnerable and still need resources to help them build financial resilience. The grant funds will assist small businesses in the City of Pittsfield to cover wages, rent, loss of inventory and other fixed costs.

Funds are available on a first come, first eligible, completed application basis, subject to the availability of funding.

Preference will be given to small businesses owned by low- to moderate-income individuals, women, minorities, immigrants, non-native English speakers, U.S. military veterans, disabled individuals, members of the LGBTQ+ community

  • Eligibility

    To be eligible, the small business must meet all of the following requirements:

    • The business must be located in Pittsfield
    • The business must be for-profit and in operation since January 2021.
    • The business must be able to document a loss of gross income due to the pandemic
    • The business must be in good standing with the state and the city:
    • Be current on all local taxes
    • Have valid state licenses and local permitting
    • Have no legal judgments or ligation involving the state or city
    • Have no unresolved non-compliance status for previous assistance
  • Funding Uses

    Eligible uses for the funding include the following:

    • Payroll
    • Rent, mortgage
    • Utilities
    • Inventory, Materials or Supplies
    • Business costs pertaining to Covid-19 supplies
    • Technical assistance services addressing business reorganization, accounting, bookkeeping, and/or marketing related activities including website improvements
  • How To Apply

    1. Complete and submit the application by email to:

    2. Business owner must provide Proof of Loss: Business Balance Sheet, P&L for 2021 & 2022 or relevant documentation
    3. Provide a list of eligible business expenses in your application

    The Pittsfield Economic Revitalization Corporation will administer the program by accepting applications, determining eligibility, review and approve applications.

  • Funds May Not Be Used For

    Funds from this program may not be used for:

    • General promotion of the community
    • Franchises
    • Real Estate Sales and Rentals
    • Cannabis-related business
    • Liquor Stores
    • Weapons and Firearms dealers
    • Assistance to professional sports teams
    • Assistance to private sports clubs
    • Acquisition of land or building
  • Details of Grant Funding

    • The Grant is administered on a reimbursement basis or two-party checks can be issued.
    • Invoices submitted for payment must be dated after the grant agreement date.
    • Grant must be used within 6 months of award.
